Dining in the Dark 2018

One hundred fifty supporters joined the Audio Journal staff , Board of Directors, and volunteers for an evening of fun, laughter, and a ‘taste’ of what it is like to be blind.  After one hour of cocktails, appetizers, piano music, and perusing raffle and silent auction items, Vince Lombardi, Director, welcomed guests and thanked our sponsors.  Art Lindberg, Board Treasurer, gave us instructions of what to do and what not to do while blindfolded.  (Keep your hands to yourselves was one suggestion.) Then…

Blindfolds on!

Dinner was served.  Caesar salad, chicken, carrots, potatoes, rolls, and chocolate mousse for dessert.

If you were having difficulties eating, a visually impaired guest was seated at each table to offer guidance and laugh at you when you discovered that your fork was empty.  “Find the edge of your plate and feel all the way around.” Two guide dogs performed their duties well during all the commotion.  Cyprian Keyes servers and our volunteers received training prior to the event from Liz Myska, a Board Member who is visually impaired.

The event raised funds to support Audio Journal’s operating budget.  Thank you to all who came, and we hope you had as much fun as we did!
